Victor Pilnitz is a lawyer practicing primarily in the areas of Trusts, Estates & Wealth Planning, and Immigration Law. Victor received a Bachelor of Commerce (Corporate Finance) and Master of Finance (Derivative Securities) degrees, completed the Canadian Securities Course with distinction and is currently pursuing a Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Victor obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria in British Columbia and he has completed a program in International Investment Disputes at the University of Paris-Sorbonne in France.
Prior to starting his practice, Victor worked with law firms in British Columbia, Quebec and Ontario and he held positions of Legal Officer with two government departments, with Citizenship and Immigration Canada and with the Department of Justice, Securities & Corporate Registries. Victor also worked in the Paris office of the UK “Magic Circle” firm where he was part of the International Arbitration Group that advised and represented clients in arbitrations under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) rules. Victor’s latest international position was with the Technical Analysis Group, first as technical analyst and then as counsel, in the Moscow branch of Deutsche Bank. These experiences allowed Victor to develop significant contacts both within government and in private sector.
Victor has been involved in cases before administrative tribunals and various courts, including a number of appellate cases before the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. Victor is fluent in English, French, Russian and Hebrew and has a working knowledge of Chinese.
